About this blog   15 comments

I am now officially done with my Great Adventure…traveling the USA in an RV with my scooter and my pup, Wrigley, to see and do all the carefree things I did not do in my twenties. I was fortunate to get to meet people, see great things and share my journey with those who could come along. My adventure inspired those who read about it to make their own dreams come true.

This blog contains random thoughts and opinions about things that happened to me. I would like the reader to be inspired, or at least moved by my writing in some way, but honestly, some blogs may be just for entertainment purposes, and nothing more. Thanks for taking the time to read what I wrote.

  1. LJ, just finished reading your blog. I am looking forward to reading future posts. You write beautifully. 🙂 CJ Hazer

  2. Hey LJ….. Welcome to the world of Full-Time RV’ng! It sounds as though you have done some great planning for your new life. You Go Girl!

I began my FTRVLife in 1984…. in a metallic purple 1976 VW “House Car.” It was my only home and vehicle for 3 years…. When I started I knew that I would have to earn fuel money for myself and my purple home…. There were zero funds coming in from any source other than what I could generate….
Mine is a long story that I love telling but will not do that right now…..
At this point I am at my “Home Base”…. an ESCAPEESRVCLUB Co-Op RV Park in S.E. New Mexico….This has been my home base for a bit over 10 years. I have been a member of the Escapees RV Club for more than 25 years. I highly recommend that you join and become an SKP. It has been the best thing I have done for myself in this lifestyle……

Go to http://www.escapees.com You can join on-line… first read up on the club, the RV parks developed by the club members, and get involved with the Discussion Forum as well…… When you join, please give my name as the person who recommended you join….4788 is my SKP number.

Right now as I sit typing on my computer in my 32′ DP Allegro Bay Motor Home…. I’m watching “The View”…. the sky is blue and cloudless, there is some breeze, ( no snow yet this winter) the outside temp is at 32.

I was 53 when I started RV’ng…. Had just graduated from college in the San Diego area. Like you I had 4 children, one boy and 3 girls…. All are married and have children. My only son, the eldest, and my oldest daughter are grandparents. It has been a very long time since I have seen my children and grands. I do not plan to travel much if at all anymore so I may never see those little great grands.

    Anyway LJ….

    • Wow, sounds like you have some real experience with all of this…I am already a member of SKP and look forward to meeting other members as I travel…
I bet you are not in the snow out there!!?

  3. Yes, I am a very experienced RV’r….. Glad to know that you are part of the SKP family! Come on out to The Ranch, would love to meet you and share information and points of view.

No snow here yet…. although the cold has been around more than I enjoy…. I am a native of Phoenix, AZ…..

Last winter we had snow here 6 times! It did not stay very long, happily!

Another SKP single I know, SU Swanne was here to visit with me last Spring…. She has a blog with the same source as yours…..

The Traveling Alchemist….. Do you know Su? I think you two would really enjoy each others’ company….

    Hugs…. Elizabeth

    • Good to know, I will check hers out and hopefully we can stay in touch and when I come that way we can get together.
I am looking forward to leaving this cold behind for sure!

  4. Hi my niece Richelle told me about ur adventure and I loved the thought of it! I think a lot of people would like to do what u r doing. God Bless ur adventure and keep me tuned in!!

  5. She does have all summer and a bit of an adventurous spirit like her aunt!

  6. Love most of the stories except for the Ticked off one. Gross. I am falling in love with Wrigley every day I see him, so if you DO come back beware….I would like to join you for KD, my dream….Inspired by you along with a couple major hurts/rejections from friends that no longer need to be in my life, some new meds, I am on the med and almost ready to conquer the world again. Still looking for ft work, applied for FT positions at Moraine for Fall, which is what I really want. If I had the money, I’d be hitching a ride with you and Wrigley. BTW: I will be starting my own blog: life as a bipolar. :>)

  7. I knew you in your twenties; you had such a different take on things than most of the people we knew. This adventure doesn’t surprise me. Good luck and keep writing. You do it absolutely beautifully.

  8. Good on you for having the guts to go on a wonderful adventure!

  9. Well I can honestly say that I am jealous of your adventures! My goal is to visit all 50 states before I die and I have about 24 down, but what you are doing is awesome! I wish you good luck and happy travels as you wonder the roads of America.
